/Overview
Siciliamia is a startup that aims to offer travelers an authentic Italian luxury experience in Sicily. Specifically, I worked closely with a team that handled the rebranding of their chocolate brand called Vicari. It is known for its high-quality chocolate, with products sourced exclusively from a Sicilian region called Ibla.

Over the summer, I joined the Siciliamia team as a UI/UX intern. I was assigned to a team focused on redesigning their existing website and enhancing the user experience. I collaborated closely with my direct supervisor, assisting in the transition of design elements from Adobe to Figma.

The goal
As the chocolate is crafted exclusively from ingredients unique to this region, the aim is to establish itself as a luxurious brand. Keeping these considerations in mind, I employed predominantly dark color palettes, a widely recognized choice for conveying modernity and a sleek, tidy design aesthetic.

At the Config 2023, Figma introduced their new dev mode feature. Since we had already worked on a significant part of the project using Adobe software, I was asked to recreate the website screens in Figma so that we could test the newly released feature.

After gaining supervisor approval for the preliminary lo-fi screens, I transitioned to crafting high-fidelity prototypes. This phase involved the integration of custom icons and real content materials to enhance the user experience. Thus, I can’t share them as well.

Lastly, I was asked if I would like to brainstorm some ideas for the signage of our physical store situated at the city center. Despite this task falling outside my usual skill set, I found it intriguing and decided to give it a shot.
This internship provided an ideal environment to apply theoretical knowledge in real-life settings. The mentorship and feedback received further honed my design sensibilities, fostering continuous growth. This transformative experience has not only fortified my passion for UX design but has also equipped me with the practical acumen needed to navigate the dynamic landscape of user experience.
